NHS Medical Services
Grove Road Surgery provides all essential NHS-funded general medical services to our patients. We also offer a range of additional and enhanced NHS-funded medical services.
Essential medical services form the foundation of primary care and are provided to all registered patients. They ensure that day-to-day medical needs are met safely and consistently, from treating sudden illness to managing ongoing conditions.
These services also include preventive measures such as vaccinations and screening, helping to maintain overall community health. Through regular reviews and monitoring, GPs support patients in achieving optimal long-term health outcomes and managing chronic conditions effectively.
Additional services are services that go beyond the “essential services” but which a practice may choose to provide or opt out of such as contraceptive services, child vaccinations and immunisations.
Enhanced services are services that are outside or above what a practice normally has to provide, or they are elements of normal services but delivered to a higher specified standard or coverage. Examples include disease‑specific clinics or programmes (for example for asthma, COPD, diabetes) where a higher level of monitoring, patient education and regular review is specified, and extended access / out‑of‑hours or evening services beyond the core contract hours.
