Infection Control Policy

At Grove Road Surgery, your health and safety are our top priorities. We take infection prevention very seriously to protect patients, staff, and visitors every time you come to the practice.

To keep everyone safe, we:

  • Wash and sanitise our hands regularly and encourage you to do the same when you visit.
  • Clean and disinfect all equipment, surfaces, and patient areas thoroughly and frequently.
  • Wear protective equipment such as gloves, aprons, and masks when needed.
  • Dispose of clinical waste safely, including sharps and used materials.
  • Ask patients with symptoms of infection to let us know so we can take extra precautions and protect others.
  • Encourage good cough and sneeze etiquette, such as covering your mouth and nose with a tissue or your elbow.
  • Promote vaccinations for staff and patients where recommended, including flu and COVID-19, to reduce the spread of illness.
  • Regularly review and update our procedures to make sure we follow the latest national guidance and best practices.
  • Monitor our infection control practices through regular checks and audits to make sure everything is working effectively.

We also ask for your help. Please follow staff guidance, use hand sanitiser when you enter, and let us know if you feel unwell. By working together, we can reduce the spread of infections and keep our practice a safe, welcoming place for everyone.
